Our Local Guide network brings together trusted local professionals who can support your journey on the ground and connect you with experiences that require genuine local or professional expertise.
Some Local Guides provide comprehensive private accompaniment throughout the agreed period of your trip — helping with your daily itinerary, transportation, dining, sightseeing, cultural understanding and changing plans.
Others bring a particular professional skill to your journey, including photography, skiing, diving, styling and local cultural experiences.
Whether you need someone beside you throughout the day or the right professional for one particular experience, Local Guide services are designed around what you actually need at the destination.
Meet Your Local Guide
Every Local Guide has an individual profile.
There, you can learn about who they are, where they are based, their professional background, personal introduction, areas of expertise and the types of services or experiences they specialise in.
Some may be exceptional private guides with deep knowledge of their city.
Others may be professional photographers, qualified ski or diving professionals, cultural specialists, or people with access to distinctive local lifestyle experiences.
There is no automated matching process you need to navigate.

A Star Journey Local Host is not a professional service in the way a Local Guide is.
A Local Host is simply someone who lives in the destination,knows it well,and is happy to spend time with you in it.
Where a Local Guide is chosen for their expertise and what they are qualifed to do,a Local Host is chosen for who they are —their neighbourhood,their interests,their way of spending a day in the place they call home .
There is no set programme.A day with a Local Host is shaped in conversation between the two of you,and often changes as it goes .
What a Day with a Local Host Looks Like
Some travellers want company for an afternoon.Others want a full day out,an evening,or someone to meet up with once or twice during a longer stay.
Your Local Host may take you through the neighbourhoods they grew up in,order for you at a restaurant with no English menu,bring you to a market they still shop at,or simply walk and talk.
Many Hosts also bring something they happen to be good at —cooking,photography,driving, surfng,music,a particular corner of local life —offered informally,as a friend would.

Tell us about your journey and what you would like help with.
This might include:

Your plans do not need to be complete before you enquire.

After your enquiry is received, your requirements can be discussed and refined.
Depending on the service, this may include your daily route, meeting arrangements, Local Expert’s service hours, transportation, driver requirements, specialist activities and other requested arrangements.
The relevant details are then communicated and confirmed with you by email.

You do not need a Travel Advisor in order to enquire with a Local Guide or a Local Host.
You may already have your trip planned and simply want a private guide,photographer,ski professional or another local specialist.Or you may want nothing arranged at all —just an afternoon with someone who lives there .
Likewise,you may work with a Travel Advisor to design your wider journey without requiring a local support of any kind.
